Easter Seals Ontario is participating in the Easter Seals Canada ScotiaRISE Program, funded by Scotiabank to offer financial grants and mentorship opportunities to ESO clients entering grades 11 and 12 who have plans for post-secondary education, or entry into the workforce.
The Supporting Students through Accessible Technology and Mentorship Program (SSATMP) grant and mentorship opportunity is intended for any ESO client who is currently enrolled in grade 11 or 12 for fall 2023. The objective of the scholarship is to provide financial support to reduce accessibility barriers for the student as they progress towards completing high-school, and assist them in preparing for a successful transition into post-secondary education, or entry into the workforce.
The grant recipient also can participate in a year-long virtual mentorship program beginning in fall 2023 and running through June 2024, where they will be paired with a volunteer mentor.
The volunteer mentor can provide encouragement, guidance, and support for:
- Preparation for post-secondary studies
- Preparing for summer employment
- Planning for employment at the end of high school
- Considering options beyond high school
Value of Grant
The grant value starts at $500 per student. Students can apply the grant funding that is provided towards purchasing laptops, learning aids, or other specialized/adaptive learning equipment, learning software, or tutoring and other costs required for school.
